Eastwood Park Abuse - Claim Compensation Before Time Runs Out

Posted in Advice

If you were sent to Eastwood Park Detention Centre as a teenager during the 1970s or 80s, and you were hurt or abused while there, you could be owed money. But you have to act quickly. The Eastwood Park Compensation Scheme closes in January 2026.

We want to make sure no one misses out. We help people apply for compensation for free in most cases. That means you get all your compensation and you don’t pay us a penny.

What Was Eastwood Park Back in the 70s & 80s?

Eastwood Park used to be a detention centre for boys aged 14 to 17. Many were sent there after getting into trouble. But instead of being helped or supported, many of them were abused.

Staff members were meant to protect the boys. But some of them used violence, threats, and humiliation. The abuse included:

  • Being beaten or hit with objects
  • Verbal and racial abuse
  • Being forced to play violent games
  • Sexual assault or harassment

Some of the boys never told anyone at the time. Others tried to speak out, but no one listened. Now, many years later, survivors are finally being given the chance to speak up and be heard

Who Was Patrick Devaney?

One of the worst abusers was a man called Patrick Devaney. He worked in the gym and used his position to hurt boys who were already vulnerable. He beat them with a cricket bat and a wooden paddle, made them do painful exercises, and called them vile names. Some boys were just 14 when this happened to them.

In 2023, he was found guilty of abusing 22 boys and was sent to prison. People who were there said he was “sadistic” and “the worst of the worst.”

What Is the Eastwood Park Compensation Scheme?

The Eastwood Park Compensation Scheme is a way for the Government to recognise what happened and offer survivors a chance to get some justice without having to go through the courts.

It’s designed to be simple:

  • You don’t have to go to court
  • You don’t have to face your abuser
  • You just give a short, written statement about what happened to you

If your claim is accepted, you’ll receive compensation. This money is a way of saying "What happened to you was wrong, and it should never have been allowed.”

What If I Was Young and Didn’t Understand?

We are proud to support survivors through the Eastwood Park Compensation Scheme. We understand how hard it can be to talk about past trauma. Our team works with compassion and discretion, ensuring that every client is treated with the respect and dignity they deserve.

Many boys at Eastwood Park didn’t realise what was happening at the time. You may have been told it was normal. You may have blamed yourself. You may have felt too scared to say anything.

You are not to blame!

This is your chance to speak up and be heard, even after all these years.

What If I Have a Criminal Record?

Some survivors have had difficult lives after Eastwood Park. That doesn’t stop you from claiming compensation.

Your experiences back then may have shaped your future. You still deserve justice. We won’t judge you and we’ll support you through the process of claiming compensation.

What Does It Cost?

We help survivors make these claims for free in most cases.

That means:

  • No fees up front
  • You get 100% of your compensation
  • We handle all the paperwork and guide you through everything

In a small number of complex cases, a fee might apply. But if that happens, we’ll explain everything clearly before you go ahead. You’ll never be surprised by a bill.

The Deadline is Looming!

The deadline is January 2026. That might seem far away, but preparing your claim takes time. Please don’t wait. Once the scheme closes, you may lose your chance to claim forever.

We understand how hard it is to talk about the past. Many of our clients have lived with pain, shame or anger for decades. But you don’t have to carry that alone anymore.

If you were hurt at Eastwood Park, we can help you:

  • Write your statement
  • Gather any details you remember
  • Make your claim before the deadline

We’ll support you every step of the way with empathy, honesty, and respect.
